Our history

Built for the Festival of Britain in the 1950’s, the historic Milkmaid Pavilion has undergone a number of dramatic changes since being taken over by our family in 1996. This culminated in the triumph of constructing a glass rotunda on the roof of the existing building which meant that our aim of bringing the beach up on to the promenade was finally achieved.

Occupied by squatters in the mid-1990’s the building had to be completely renovated from scratch and was completed with the erection of the glass restaurant in the Millennium year.

Since then the Rotunda has gone from strength to strength and now not only offers a superb dining experience in the upstairs restaurant but also a full events team to assist with family functions and corporate events held in the downstairs restaurant.

Now all our customers in both restaurants are able to dine ‘a stone’s throw’ from Brighton beach.
