Miller & Carter Brighton

Miller & Carter Brighton

Miller & Carter Brighton

I have always had mixed experiences ordering steak from the menu. One thing is for sure – I am a steak lover. I’m not a vegetarian, but I can thoroughly enjoy a sirloin steak accompanied by peppercorn sauce and tasty mushrooms. A medium-rare steak has always been my favourite, and I cannot comprehend why anyone would order one well-done.

It is challenging to predict whether the restaurant will cook your steak the way you want it (cook each side for 3 minutes), or if they will give you a brick as opposed to a steak. Sadly, the latter is usually the case. This is why you can imagine how happy I was to taste a top-notch steak from Miller & Carter SteakHouse.

The site

Located along London Road in Patcham, it is easily reached by bus and has plenty of parking.

The first thing you see upon entering the impressive building is its luxurious interior, with its deep red colour scheme. The chairs, carpet, and lights are red, which makes a charming contrast with the black tables and long couch. The exposed brick wall creates a modern atmosphere while retaining the traditional American steakhouse vibe.

Delectable food

Miller and Carter is a great choice no matter your age – from your first date to your mom’s birthday. No matter what your dietary restrictions are, a meal at Miller and Carter will be just right for you.

It offers an array of steaks and meat burgers, along with other things like pasta, fish and salads, plus appetizers and desserts. The restaurant also offers a kids’ menu.

Choosing between 12 different steak types, I opted to start with a T-Bone steak in a cream sauce with baked cheese mushrooms, while my friend ordered sirloin steak accompanied by fried calamari as an appetizer. Of course, both at medium-rare.

Each massive steak was delicious. The plates of steak we had at Miller & Carter were absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. They only offer the highest quality cuts of 30 day-aged beef, which was a joy to eat. Chefs at this restaurant choose exclusively grass-fed beef sourced locally, and then have it perfectly cooked by skilled chefs for whom steaks are both a passion and a calling.

What a lovely evening it was

We left dessert space for a raspberry crème brûlée and were just as surrounded by great people. The staff was accommodating when it came to selecting the right white wine for our meal.

I enjoyed the service immensely, but it wasn’t bothersome at all. I was able to enjoy my meal without a lot of distractions.

At Miller & Carter we know a thing or two about steak. In fact, we could say that we’re one of the best steakhouses in Brighton. But we’d rather leave that to your judgement.

Every steak comes with a lettuce wedge, along with a choice of four different salad dressings served alongside. It is often found in American steakhouses and is enjoyed by many diners.

Whenever you can no longer stand from the immense amount of food you’ve consumed, Miller & Carter hotel is there to help you. As with the restaurant, the hotel and accommodation are both pleasant and relaxing, regardless of how long you stay.

There is no doubt that Miller & Carter is one of the best restaurants in Brighton to have a meal at and feel satisfied!

LatinoAmérica

LatinoAmérica

LatinoAmérica

Argentine restaurants have never existed in East Sussex until LatinoAmérica Hove. The restaurant’s owner and his Argentinean team are proud to offer you a genuine dining experience and a deep understanding of Argentina’s cuisine. Diners at LatinoAmérica can be assured that Argentina is not only famous for football, but also its high-quality wines and delicious cuisine. The beef they serve is sourced from grass-fed cattle raised on Las Pampas.

A taste of Argentinian cuisine

If you’re looking for amazing Argentine steaks, this is the place to go!

Menus represent the culture of the country; a melting pot of local and Mediterranean flavours derived from a wealth of animals and crops.

A wooden board is used to present the dishes, which highlights the beauty of each dish.

The owner and his native team are extremely proud to share with you the authentic dishes and extensive knowledge of the cuisine of Argentina.

Starters include classics such as empanadas, including Argentine chorizo served with black pudding and salsa criolla, a unique combination. You’ll find the chef’s recommendations on the menu, which include Milanesa a la Napolitana (lightly breaded beef or chicken smothered in cheese and tomato sauce), plus the wonderful Lomito Completo (a delicious beef ribeye sandwich).

A selection of Argentine steak cuts is available on the grill (rib-eye, sirloin, rump, and fillet) for sharing.

The indulgent crème caramel with dulce de leche topped with whipped cream is a must-try for dessert lovers. At lunchtime on weekdays, a two-course or 3-course set menu is offered to vegetarians.

Dining area for private parties

If you are hosting a special affair, reserve the private dining room and savour an Argentine feast with your friends.

This party room of LatinoAmérica is situated on the first floor, which is perfect for groups and parties of 30 people. You’ll find a special deal for groups that offer great discounts.

A selection of wines

A range of sparkling and white wines, as well as premium Malbec wines, are available. The bar of LatinoAmérica also serves a wide assortment of Latin beers, imported soft drinks, and spirits, as well as Gin and Tonics.

A Taste Of Sahara

A Taste Of Sahara

A Taste Of Sahara

The long-running Brighton ethnic restaurant has undergone an amazing revamp, transforming A Taste of Sahara into an enchanting oasis with luxurious silks draped from the ceiling, plush red velvet seating, the sound of Arabic music, plus the aroma of apple-flavoured tobacco filling the room.

At an affordable price, A Taste of Sahara Brighton provides locals with the opportunity to explore exotic dishes.

This restaurant’s décor and food take their cues from the Mediterranean culture, with decorative fixtures, adorned in vibrant colours. The restaurant’s design reflects the fusion of flavours so prevalent in its cuisine. The moment you walk into this colourful and lively restaurant, guests are greeted by a warm welcome.

Middle Eastern and North African cuisine

Visitors enjoy the ambience of The Old Market and good food. This restaurant can be among the best of all African and Lebanese restaurants.

The 60-item menu features various mezes including falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, as well as tabbouleh accompanied by oven-baked flatbread, along with shish kebabs and Moroccan tagines served with sweet prunes, walnuts, and olives.

If you are dining with 10 or more people, they offer a choice of set menus so you can relax while they prepare the food.

Also, make sure not to miss out on their daily specials such as koshari, a meatless dish consisting of onions, lentils, chickpeas, and tomato sauce served over rice.

To complete your meal, try Persian ice cream topped with pistachios, captivating baklava, cakes, puddings, and yoghurt, all followed by cardamom tea or Arabic coffee.

There is a large selection of soft drinks on the authentic Arabic menu, but if you prefer alcoholic drinks with your meal, the restaurant has a bring your own alcohol policy, free of corkage fees, where chic wine glasses and a beverage cooler are available.

You can choose from a wide selection of tasty wines. You can also enjoy mint tea, lemon tea, etc. at this place.

True hospitality at its best

Whenever it comes to warm welcomes and friendly service, then Sahara does not disappoint. Upon entering, you’re met with a friendly greeting, and the courteous and professional staff is devoted to ensuring you feel relaxed.

Featuring a variety of dishes to share and a vibrant atmosphere, it is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

It is an amazing place where the staff is so welcoming. Excellent service is something we all appreciate!

Definitely a Brighton staple, and I am looking forward to our next visit.

FilFil Cafe

FilFil Cafe

FilFil Cafe

There’s a prevalent stereotype that vegetarians and vegans get the short end of the stick when it comes to fast food. Thanks to FilFil, we have access to easy, mouth-watering Middle Eastern cuisine, conveniently located in the centre of North Laine.

Their Philosophy

Owner Amal, who grew up in the Middle East, decided to create a Middle Eastern café offering traditional falafel for diners to enjoy while socializing and to take home.

Hot, vegetarian falafel is the shop’s signature dish. It is prepared to order and made from scratch. Falafel is the star of the menu, making it one of the best quick meals there is. The recipe is handed down through generations. Falafel is called filfil in Arabic and it means chilli. They make freshly made falafel every day. A good glass of wine or beer can be a great way to start a meal. You should also try some great coffee.

What’s about FilFil that we love?

FilFil has been our go-to falafel place since it opened, and we simply cannot get enough of it! Let me tell you, we’ve eaten lots of falafel! But it’s so much more than that. Whether it’s salads, dips or side dishes, absolutely everything is to die for!

You can eat as much hummus as you like, and as much falafel and baba ghanoush as your heart desire.

Plus, it’s a lovely family-run business that is kid-friendly and always welcomes visitors the minute you walk in. A wonderful place would not exist without the hardworking, positive staff. This place offers great service!

There are no words to describe this place, whether you like or dislike falafel, you should make an effort to try it – you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

You’ll be more than welcome to stop in during your weekend stroll downtown or as you’re winding down from a long shopping day.

itsu

itsu

itsu

Fast food chains don’t appeal to me in the same way they do to many Brightonians. It is especially hard for them to impress in a city where there is such a vibrant local food culture.

However, itsu recently captured my attention. I don’t know about you, but pre-packaged lunches don’t get me too excited, but there’s something about the food at itsu, they look colourful and delicious as well as supposedly high in protein and low in fat. It was great to check it out this week after several friends of mine have already converted, so I was eager to see if it lived up to the hype.

From the Menu

Japanese cuisine is served at itsu. Guests can enjoy a wide range of dishes here, such as rice salads, sushi, and noodle soups.

The detox miso soup was delicious. It turned out to have a certain taste to it that might have been missed by some. There’s no denying that it’s light and healthy, with a savoury green miso broth and citrus flavours, plus an abundance of supple glass noodles and vegetables that remain crisp and refreshing.

The soup includes two veggie gyoza dumplings floating in it, giving it a pleasing appearance and interesting texture without compromising much on flavour. For its price, it’s a decent size pot. It is not heavy enough to serve as a meal on its own, but it makes a great meal when paired with one of the snack pots of salmon or tuna salad to boost the protein content.

Along with my soup, I ate grilled chicken over sticky rice topped with teriyaki dressing. The chicken is incredibly moist, which is impressive enough. The rice has a wonderful texture, slightly sticky without being gritty, with sesame seeds, bits of ginger, and tasty peas and spring onions. A side of teriyaki dressing makes it more satisfying. The sauce is served separate from the food so that you can savour it as you go along.

Food and More

In addition to my meal, I had a green veggie smoothie. It certainly looks worthwhile. Among the sweet treats, I included was fat-free yoghurt with sweet strawberries. Natural yoghurt is evidently used to make this product.

Itsu provides a better value for money. There is now an excellent take-out option on North Street that offers soup, including, rice and protein salad. It’s definitely varied enough to keep me interested.

Whenever you’re looking for a quick bite on North Street, this is the place to go. You can count on my coming back again for lunch.

Lovefit Cafe

Lovefit Cafe

Lovefit Cafe

Possibly, Brighton could start the trend of combining breakfast and fitness outside of a gym. So we visited them, hoping that a healthy breakfast would be in store, and perhaps a change in our lifestyle would follow.

Known as LoveFit Cafe, the restaurant combines healthy, gourmet cuisine with a touch of savoury goodness.

If it weren’t for the lack of exercise equipment and weights, LoveFit Cafe could very well be a gym. The walls are adorned with plasma screens advertising offers available inside and outside of the cafe. Promotional material adorns all surfaces, while a notice board displays information about fitness classes and fun runs. The chairs are comparable to those found in gym cafes and have a capacity of twelve, but there is also al fresco dining in the square for those who can brave the weather.

Healthy breakfast menu

It is a fact that lean meats are used in each of the UK’s leading high-protein restaurants in their meals to ensure customers remain trim.

Lovefit Cafe’s menu caters specifically to these customers with dishes like “Immune Boost Porridge”, which is a berry-infused porridge with honey, and Greek yoghurt, plus the “Power Porridge” loaded with 20g of protein, available for seating or takeout.

A breakdown of calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat in each meal is listed on the menu so that you can keep track of what you are eating. We have observed this in a few other cafes we have visited!

On top of their breakfast menu, they also have two pages of fresh fruit juices and smoothies prepared at the spot. You can choose from an endless array of options, each providing a unique health benefit.

Even with all the healthy choices, there is still room for those who don’t normally engage in gym activities. The menu includes nicely grilled chicken breasts, bacon rolls, and club sandwiches. Lovefit Cafe also serves delicious brownies and pancakes.

The taste of Lovefit

I chose the Lovefit Breakfast Club as it reminded me of the fried sandwiches I used to make as a teen, back when I didn’t care about calories. Typical ingredients in this sandwich are low-fat sausage, low-fat bacon, tomato slices, fat-free mayo, a low-sodium HP sauce topped with a sunny side up. A greasy breakfast like this is almost as good as any I’ve ever eaten, and the portions are pretty substantial.

I was completely in awe of the ‘Detox’ juice, which combines apple, lime, and celery. Celery is rarely used in drinks, but when it’s combined with apple, it brings out its true flavours. And the lime gives it a zesty edge. A dash of white rum would have made this the perfect drink to quench your thirst in the summertime!

Wine is another specialty of this location. Great teas, chai lattes, and fresh juices are available too.

There is a lot to like about Lovefit Cafe. Breakfast is tasty and affordable, and the environment is motivating. A return visit is also worthwhile to sample another of the outstanding juices they offer. This may be worth a try if you’re interested in ditching the breakfast guilt in favour of a healthier lifestyle.

Foodilic

Foodilic

Foodilic

Healthy lunches at Foodilic are one of my favourites in Brighton. Here is the place where healthy food exists.

There is a wide selection of raw and organic salads offered and the restaurant specializes in serving healthful food without breaking the bank. The food available at Foodilic is prepared with a health-conscious approach, which makes it suitable for vegetarians and vegans alike.

You’ll find vibrant salad mountains, freshly-pressed juices, fresh chicken, mouth-watering pastries, and a tempting assortment of desserts here.

Its light wood flooring, fixtures, countertops, and tall ceiling all create an atmosphere of a natural, relaxing, and comfortable place.

A feast for the senses

At the food counter, there was a great food performance. Foodilic’s trademark feuilletes were on display: savoury filo pastries filled with a selection of tasty fillings (including shitake, oyster, and button mushrooms) along with some sweet fillings.

Guests can also dive into the delectable vegetarian menu offered here. It’s hard to go wrong with the delicious courgette salad, grilled green beans with mushroom glaze, grilled potatoes, and egg florentine.

If you don’t want to eat a completely vegetarian or vegan meal, Foodilic also has meat options, including coq au vin, as well as boeuf bourguignon.

Additionally, you will find an extensive selection of delicious treats, featuring butter cakes, banana cakes, applesauce and other baked goods, as well as a vast selection of organic tea, fruit juices, smoothies, plus coffees. I’d say that’s a big check!

My meals here have always been delicious!

An abundance of choices

You will find so many yummy options, including several that are vegan or vegetarian. However, I usually end up feeling confused when I enter a place like Foodilic.

There’s a lot of tasty food on those enormous chalkboards, and my plate can only hold so much!

A list of all ingredients was provided along with each dish, which made it easier for people with gluten sensitivity and dairy allergies to choose their meals.

Though if you have any questions about the menu, the manager and staff will be happy to assist you.

It is obvious how much value the staff at this place gives to their customers. Restaurant owners take pride in their top-notch service.

Let’s enjoy some dessert!

Is there anyone who doesn’t love cake? The sweets on display are plentiful and enticing. They make delectable blueberry cheesecake as well as almond coffee cake!

Probably the best cake on Foodilic, the Aubergine with pecan cake is rich, moist, and outright delicious.

More wonderful things

The interior of Foodilic is warm and inviting. There is a lovely decor and calm atmosphere here, which makes customers feel comfortable.

It’s worth noting that they have a great variety of fresh food and offer great prices. If you were to visit more often, you could try something new and healthy every single time.

Additionally, Foodilic is a BYO, which means you can bring your own wine and pay a small corkage fee to bring it. What a great idea, huh?

The House Restaurant

The House Restaurant

The House Restaurant

House Restaurant Brighton is a Victorian-style dining establishment located in Brighton’s trendy Lanes, with a menu that is suitable for casual and formal dining. This restaurant boasts a wide variety of steaks and also has a menu to suit vegetarians.

Featuring a selection of signature dishes, the restaurant is an ideal location for an intimate dinner, group gathering, or al fresco dining on the heated outdoor terrace, which seats 60 guests.

The Food

There are regularly updated seasonal menus, “daily fish” and “dish options” and a tempting “specials board”, so you can always find something new, fresh, and interesting to try!

Menu items are reminiscent of a modern British bistro, with a strong emphasis on fish and steak. The daily specials boards are an addition to the regular menu, and the steak dishes are particularly noteworthy. At The House, everyone can find something they like.

There is a strong local following for this eatery, so reservations are recommended, particularly during the weekends.

A charming place to meet with friends and family

The restaurant is a true family-run business featuring excellent food prepared with love and care. Locally referred to as “Brighton’s Best Kept Secret”, the restaurant offers an unusually wide range of wines and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The House can accommodate groups of all sizes, thanks to the four different dining areas. The restaurant also has a private dining room where private parties can be held in privacy. There is no additional charge for this dining room.

Their website offers a fantastic selection of group menus, but they can also provide a customized menu service to accommodate special requests.

The House Restaurant’s chef and party organizer can help you create a memorable dining experience.

A good reputation can’t be beaten and that’s something that this restaurant at the Lanes is known for.

The House is the perfect choice for a special meal with friends, for a romantic meal with your sweetheart, or as a surprise anniversary gift. They will provide an unforgettable experience with great food and ambience as well as outstanding service.

Wolfies of Hove

Wolfies of Hove

Wolfies of Hove

Here is where you can find the best fish and chips in Hove! A full range of gluten and dairy-free choices are available at Wolfies, with fresh fish sourced from sustainable sources.

There is a decent selection of food, a lot more refined than a chippy menu, but not too fancy that it would turn diners away. I much prefer the menu over the discoloured, grimy signs along the harbour.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience British cuisine. Try Wolfies of Hove’s specially prepared salted beef, potato pies, plus fish and chips. The bagels here are tasty too!

Food made with fresh ingredients

The restaurant is the only one in town that offers gluten-free batter, which makes them very dedicated. To prevent cross-contamination, there is even a dedicated fryer, a pretty impressive feature for foodies.

Wolfies’ batter has something similar to tempura – the taste and texture are almost similar. It comes as no surprise why Wolfies was voted The Best Free-From Eating Out in 2015.

I don’t have to blather on forever about the pleasure of fish & chips. The cod was perfectly cooked – it was soft, succulent, and didn’t break apart in tough bits as a poorly cooked fillet would. A small portion was around the size of a brick, and the batter was the best I’ve ever eaten.

A large portion of the potatoes used to make the chips come from farms in the Hove area. It’s crispy and delicious with the perfect amount of crunch.

We were served hand-peeled chips and a piece of fish in cardboard trays. Both had barely any oil and were extremely hot.

A homemade pie I ordered was also good, since the pastry was buttery and crisp, which provided a nice counterpoint to the creamy filling. The meal was nothing like every other chippie I’ve ever eaten.

A fun foodie adventure

While waiting for our food on the bench, a member of the staff told me that next door I could purchase a bottle of wine since the shop was licensed. In no time at all, we were sipping on crisp white wine and enjoying Wolfies’ delicious food.

I have never tasted better Fish and Chips, and the homemade pies are much better than what is usually found at chip shops. In addition to the amazing food and sustainable sourcing, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I’d say it was a real treat to be able to enjoy all of that with a bottle of wine at a reasonable price, plus no BYOB fees involved.

Bardsley’s

Bardsley’s

Bardsley’s

Bardsley’s fish and chip shop runs close to the rapidly developing London Road area and borders the large green area of The Level.

Typical fish and chips in a hybrid style; traditional chips, crunchy batter, and enormous pickled gherkins, complemented by an elegant restaurant featuring whole fish grilled to perfection, garnished and accompanied by salad or chips.

Well established

Baker Street’s famous cod and mushy peas spot has been in business since 1926 and has built an excellent reputation that has resulted in one of the best batters in town. Within walking distance of the station, you can choose to eat on-site, but for the ultimate seaside experience, grab fish and chips on the go and set up a bench as your little dining table.

This is a long-established Brighton institution, serving residents and visitors who dip in and out of the city on holidays or study for a few years.

A foodie’s dream

This family-run business has been serving fish and chips for more than four generations and takes pride in offering only the best.

The specials are constantly changing, depending on what fresh fish comes in, and the dishes are prepared in whichever way complements it.

You can choose from a wide selection of fish available for battering, poaching, or grilling. The choice is yours! You can also choose from four different portion sizes, including a double serving!

For my meal, I ordered the medium-sized haddock fillet grilled then paired with chips, and my friend ordered the battered cod paired with salad rather than chips since she overindulged in chips in recent weeks!

Garlic and black pepper were used to prepare the haddock, which was accompanied by a cup of salad, and the chips were served separately. Having garlic and pepper with the fish made it incredibly tasty and flaky. I was impressed by how well it was cooked and how fresh the fish was, especially since it wasn’t fried! With a delightful potato flavour and a slightly crisp outer surface, the chips were great.

My friend’s cod was enormous and coated in a crunchy, thin, non-greasy batter that was even and perfect all the way around. It must have been made by experts. Perfectly cooked, the inside of the fish was flaky. A simple salad that came with apple vinaigrette was a welcome change from chips.

There’s a reason why Bardsley’s is so well-known not just in Brighton, but around the country.

It’s a good place to go if you’re looking for quality, proper, satisfying fish and chips.
After that, we had sticky toffee pudding, as you have to eat it when you have the chance. The pudding was served with lots of custard. I’m thankful for Bardsley’s!

As they are licensed, they offer a variety of beer options, including gluten-free options that I found to be a welcome sight!
