The Salt Room

The Salt Room

The Salt Room

The Salt Room Brighton is creating a huge buzz in the area of Brighton because they are serving some really good food and people love it. Sister Restaurant to the Coal Shed, The Salt Room is Brighton’s specialised seafood restaurant.

If you’re looking for British cuisine with a fresh twist, then look no further than The Salt Room. This award-winning restaurant sources the finest local produce from land and sea to bring exceptional quality dishes that will satisfy even the most discerning palate! Whether it’s fish or meat they are serving up, this is your go-to spot if you want something truly special in terms of food – as well as atmosphere.

Cosy Vibe

Space is a very warm and welcoming place to have brunch or any time of day for that matter. The food was fresh and tasty. I would recommend this restaurant as it has great ambience with its exposed brick walls, fairy lights in the ceiling giving off an intimate feeling even though many people were dining when we went last Saturday evening!

As soon as you walk in the door, a friendly receptionist greets you. Behind them is an open space with casual tables where customers can grab cocktails or light appetizers before sitting down for dinner at their table or bar stool of choice.

Within a few minutes of sitting down, our waiter started circulating and my date and I were immediately put at ease. We felt like we had someone on-call to make sure that everything was taken care of for us; he even took the time to find out what types of drinks each one preferred. It’s not often you get service this good these days!

The Food

The aged Beef Crudo was so beautiful. It is one of the best things I ate! The octopus and asparagus came with this dish too- both equally tasty in their rights.

There’s no better place to go if you’re in the mood for seafood than Salt Room. My tandoori monkfish was succulent yet meaty like I had expected! The burnt sugar tart ended the night on a high note as I savoured every last bite. The grapefruit and gin sorbet made for an excellent pairing, balancing out the bittersweet of the dessert while adding a fresh twist to it all.

The Drinks

The Salt Room is an innovative and inventive restaurant that has created a drinking culture unlike any other in the world. With their Mediterranean zest, they add medicinal qualities to every one of their drinks with fresh herbs from all over Earth.

Determined not to be defeated by the array of wine glasses in front of me, I ordered a pretty glass of Sunset Sake. With the addition of yuzu, it was delightfully tangy with hints of alcohol balancing out its warming effect.

I always have a great time when I visit the Salt Room. They are quick to offer their services and they know what is on the menu like no other! It’s such an awesome environment that it makes me want to come back again, which says a lot in my book because of how picky I am about where I’ll go for food or drinks.

Erpingham House

Erpingham House

Erpingham House

Erpingham House Brighton has just opened its doors to the public, and is now open for business! The first, based entirely around vegan cuisine, already has a successful location near Norwich with an inspirational backstory!

Plant-based All Day Menu

Erpingham House is making veganism look good. With their fully all-day, plant-powered menu and drinks made with cruelty-free ingredients like almond milk or cashew cream in place of cow’s dairy you won’t find them at other venues. They’ve got a full selection from fresh pastries to hearty brunch options that will satisfy your every need for creativity without sacrificing taste because they know what vegans want!

Erpingham House has the perfect dining venue whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or evening cocktails which are sure to please any vegan foodie who walks through its doors looking for something special.

You might not know that Erpingham House is a haven for every type of vegan. Budding Buddha Bowl enthusiasts, fake steak cravers and purists alike can find what they need in this restaurant’s menu.

I can’t get enough of this place. I just went there for brunch and it was great. Every time they have amazing options that will satisfy any craving, the surroundings are cosy, but not too pretentious- perfect if you’re looking to casually grab a drink with friends or chat about your latest novel while nibbling on some appetizers! The service is top-notch; always prompt and pleasant when delivering food and drinks alike…

And, there’s even outdoor seating for those warmer days!

I had their vegan lamb and it was my favourite.

I also loved the chocolate raspberry dessert!

Refreshing Atmosphere

The Erpingham House in Brighton has the best drinks I’ve ever had. The non-alcoholic are light and refreshing, while their alcohol is strong but still smooth to drink. Plus they have a great atmosphere!

Food For Friends

Food For Friends

Food For Friends

Imagine a large variety of fresh organic vegetarian foods prepared just for you. In Food For Friends – Brighton’s restaurant, you can sip a glass of rosé in relative comfort and silence. Brighton’s Lanes are crowded with people shopping at all hours, but it still feels like a small escape from the rest of the world, a place where anyone can find what they need without having to leave their sphere.

The Atmosphere

Food For Friends is the perfect spot to go for an intimate and laid back meal, with its serene decor made up of whitewashed wood panels, pale grey walls adorned with delicate floral patterns and bespoke lighting. From their cosy nooks inside the restaurant or on one of their picturesque outdoor plots – no matter what location you choose it’s sure to be exactly how you imagined dinner out should feel: casual yet modernistic.

One of the most innovative vegetarian restaurants in Brighton, Food For Friends has been catering to hungry punters for 40 years. With fresh and locally sourced ingredients as well as dishes on their menu that are vegan or gluten-free, this is a great place to go if you’re looking for a great dining experience!

A Modern Take on Vegetarian Cuisine

The menu pulls from classic flavours while offering updated twists on each dish so it can cater to every palate’s desires – whether they’re looking for global cuisine or something uniquely British- inspired!

At this restaurant, they offer food influenced by Middle Eastern, North African, and Mediterranean cuisines. There are many ways of adapting this type of cooking to accommodate dairy-free or gluten-free diets!

You’re sure to get your fill of hearty and delicious plates at this restaurant, from the appetizers that will make you want more when they arrive on the table to those big meals that’ll keep you full for days.

Among the food that we ordered is the Baba Ganoush, which is an eggplant dish with garlic sauce, olives or olive oil mayonnaise. The food was always generous in size no matter what you ordered so be careful before ordering too much! You can’t go wrong with Thai sweetcorn fritters and goats’ cheese tartlets. We had them as appetizers.

The main course was outstanding, and the chefs don’t overload you with too many complex dishes. I ordered grilled halloumi. The potato curry is one of their nightly specials- trust me when I say that you’ll need to try this rich, satisfying meal at least once in your lifetime!

The service at this restaurant, in particular, is impeccable because from beginning to end everything ran smoothly: they accommodated my dietary restrictions even when I wasn’t sure what it would entail; checked up every 2 minutes or so throughout our meal just to make sure everything’s going well.

Smorl’s

Smorl’s

Smorl’s Houmous Falafel & Salad Bar

Smorl’s Houmous Falafel & Salad Bar is one of our favourite vegan finds in the city. One minute you’re perusing the stalls at Brighton’s Open Market and then BOOM! There it is, tucked away inside – a new favourite spot for healthy eats with an understated vibe that we can’t get enough of.

The Kitchen

Sharing responsibility on the kitchen are siblings Christian and Sarah who own Smorl’s Kitchen together. They greet all customers cheerfully which makes every person feel special including me!

Smorl’s is pretty darn good. If you’re looking for a new place to eat in the area, then Smorls should be on your list of places to go!

“Ways of spelling houmous…

Houmous, hummus, humus, hommus, hommos and Smorl’s.”

Our Vegan Food Experience

The experience of trying new food is always exciting, especially with my friends! I loved the falafel and bolognese. We even tried curry rice for the first time! The salad was so nice because it had lots of different flavours; refreshing to eat!

A meatless bolognese? You read that right: the dish contains delicious Moroccan style spices like cinnamon, turmeric, cumin as well as smoked paprika to give this flavorful vegetarian sauce its deep flavour without any animal protein whatsoever. And, I can still taste the flavours of all those delicious dips! The houmous was my favourite by far. There are three different levels to choose from – thunder being the spiciest and original as mildest. It’s such a perfect snack for sharing with friends or just munching alone!

It’s unreal how good vegan dishes are. With so many beautiful colours and flavours, it makes everything come together wonderfully. If you share them with your friends or take them home in a box, it’s great. You’ll want some of these for later, too.

When you’re looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of work, Smorl’s is there for you. Open from 10-4 Monday – Saturday, and 10-3 on Sunday, this café promises an enjoyable experience with its affordable vegan menu featuring dishes that will leave your taste buds wanting more!

The Roundhill

The Roundhill

The Roundhill

The Roundhill pub on Ditchling Road is a vegan-friendly establishment that’s close to the town centre, Lewes Road and London Street. The menu changes weekly but all of their dishes are vegan by default – some can be made vegetarian if desired.

The Atmosphere

The moment we walk through the door, it feels like time has stopped. The Roundhill is a place where my vegan dreams come true! From the scent of fresh bread to the cheery staff serving up delicious food and drinks in this quaint little café, everyone here seems happy–even if they are eating vegetables for dinner. It’s hard not to be transfixed by their incredible surroundings; everything from hanging plants that seem alive with colour to exposed brick walls filled with art prints make me feel at home (a feeling usually reserved only for my beloved couch). This was one experience worth waiting two months for…I’ll never forget what happens when you visit Brighton’s best plant-based hotspot.

The Roundhill Brighton is beautiful and unique. It has large windows on two sides of the exterior, giving it an airy feeling with plenty of natural light coming in to brighten up the inside. The exposed wood creates a home-like feel that makes you want to curl up next to one of those plants for some much-needed relaxation. There are additional outside seating spaces available if you need your sun drinking to fix away from all that hustle and bustle!

Vegan Sunday Roast

The menu is easy to customize for dietary restrictions because everything on it can be prepared fresh. You should speak with the team before ordering if you’re allergic and find this out in advance, though–it’s best to avoid anaphylaxis at all costs!

The vegan menu was the star of today’s show, so I ordered The Roundhill Nut Roast and my friend opted for Seitan ‘Gammon’.

The Nut Roast is a classic alternative option to meat. This dish was tasty and full of flavour, but it would have been too dry if not for the healthy serving of gravy that balanced everything off nicely – no problem!

Meanwhile, the seitan was a delight to eat, with the flavours of mustard and maple coming through. The portion is incredibly generous as well. Its consistency also makes it so perfect! All in all, though, this dish is worth coming back for!

The veg was not to be missed! The carrots were cooked through perfectly and so tender. And the broccoli, just right. I had never eaten a vegan Yorkshire pudding before, but my experience with this one was wonderful. It wasn’t as flaky and light as I am used to tasting in non-vegan versions of the dish, which made it taste even more delightful!

The vegan roast has been a beautifully delicious experience. The plant-based Sunday lunch is starting to grow on me. I can’t wait for the next one!

V and H Cafe

V and H Cafe

V and H Cafe

V&H Café is loved by many foodies at the moment, and it’s easy to see why, with all their delicious pastries and sandwiches! I love this place. I usually come here for a quick coffee and to catch up with my friends when we’re all in the area because they have great food, good service, and are helpful – everyone seems super friendly!

From the perfect espresso to a silky smooth scrambled egg, they have it all. All of their ingredients and products are sourced locally through independent suppliers who know everything about what’s best in your area – like being masters at what you do!

Exciting Breakfast and Brunch Menus

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there are many options to choose from at V&H. They have homemade granola with Greek yoghurt, honey, breakfast muffins for a sweet start in your morning or eggs Florentine if you’re more on the savoury side!
If it’s baked goods that get you going then they also offer freshly-baked pastries alongside their delicious fresh beans.

The brunch menu boards are a sight to behold. You’ll find the latest and greatest in culinary creations, from traditional British flavours with an international twist to all-new dishes that will take your taste buds on their very own trip around the world while still retaining the authenticity of time-honoured classics.

A Lot of Food for All Kinds of Diets

A gluten-free diet eliminates the protein found in wheat, rye and barley because they are so closely related to each other.
But there are still plenty of options at this restaurant no matter what your dietary restrictions may be.
For example, nearly everything on their menu can easily adapt with some substitutions here or there–it doesn’t get any better than that!

I was impressed with how much selection they had! They have gluten-free cakes, vegan recipes, traditional pastries like pies and sausage rolls – just about anything you could ask for if your diet is restricted in some way.

Best of all? It’s not a health food store that smells like vinegar or soy sauce…it smelled good because it has so many delicious treats on display!

Best Coffee and Tea

Their baristas are as experienced and knowledgeable about coffee as any in Brighton. It’s not just the impressive quality of their beans that makes V and H stand out, it also means they have a teas master on staff to help make matcha green tea with all its health benefits or herbal infusions like peppermint-infused black iced tea!

The best part? They’re open for late-night drinks so you can come by after work when your boss is gone but still want an amazing caffeine fix to keep going through the evening.

Impressive Cafe

The interior of this place is nice. It doesn’t feel like it’s themed for the beach, but some things make you think about sitting on a hammock and looking out over ocean waves.

Service here has always been great – friendly without being intrusive or fakely cheerful in any way at all, which I’ve seen happen sometimes with other places where they’re trying to upsell everything (they seem to get their regulars well-trained!).

The quality of food seems good as well; can’t fault them anywhere else either. Easily the nicest cafe in town!

The Wardroom & Mess Deck

The Wardroom & Mess Deck

The Wardroom & Mess Deck

The days get longer every day, the clouds start to disappear and summer is coming like an old friend. There are no better places in England than Brighton right now!
The sun shines across the Channel as it gets closer and people from both locals of tourists flock down to the beach looking for a great spot where they can chill out with their friends while enjoying this beautiful weather.

With a fresh new look and a revamped menu, the Old Ship Hotel is ready to welcome visitors into its bosom. With open windows overlooking Brighton’s promenade, its restaurant, the Wardroom Brighton, formerly Steak On Sea restaurant offers quality service in an upscale environment with all-day dining options for any time of day.

I can’t wait to try the new menu, I’m so excited. They’ve got a lot of really interesting dishes on there from lamb rump to grilled oyster mushrooms and chalk stream trout- it seems like all their ingredients are locally sourced too!
It’s an awesome idea that this menu will evolve as seasons come along for everything they offer are fresh and tasty every time you visit them.

Fresh Offers at Wardroom Brighton

The Wardroom, Brighton’s elegant restaurant with a bar that serves breakfast and lunch. You can enjoy an early morning eggs benedict for £10 or afternoon tea overlooking the sea views of this coastal city.

This is the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast before a day of exploring on your own. You can enjoy some fantastic views while you grab something to eat, or if that’s not enough there are always plenty of options in town!

This place is also an amazing spot for some laid-back lunch. You could go with a classic soup, like something hearty and creamy that screams “fall” (I recommend their pumpkin bisque) or you can try out one of their vegetable medleys if you need lighter fare.
I am partial to these dishes since they are not too heavy on my stomach but still have enough flavour to satisfy me!

The new food menu has been transformed into a fresh take on British food. Traditional in spirit, yet enriched with an array of international flavours, the kitchen has been allowed to unleash its creativity and explore new cooking methods.

The selection is so diverse. From fresh soups to vegetable medleys, they all have their unique flavours and menu items that will leave your mouth watering in anticipation of what’s next!

A fine dining restaurant and relaxed bar located within The Old Ship hotel on Brighton’s iconic seafront.

The Mess Deck Bar

The Mess Deck bar is a great spot for some summertime drinks. They pride themselves on wine and cocktails, with the perfect location just steps from the sea. The cocktail menu leans towards fruity fresh flavours that pair nicely with their view of people watching!

They also have a lighter menu with tapas-style dishes for lunch. Their four plates £15 sun-inspired tapa offer is the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine and sample light, shareable food.

The food is undeniably delicious, the location of The Wardroom Brighton can’t be beaten for its view and ambience. With delightful decor, this restaurant goes beyond what you would expect from an ordinary spot!

Chimney House

Chimney House

Chimney House Brighton

You’ll never believe what’s just a short walk from Brighton Station and the Sea: The Chimney House.
This spot is perfect for those who love coffee, foodies, or anyone looking to explore some of Brighton’s hidden treasures!

The Chimney House is a place with great vibes and a homey, cosy feel. There are antler chandeliers you’ll see there along with rustic furniture. It has that artsy vibe to it too which makes the experience even better!

The Chimney House Brighton is a notable pub for good food, drinks and an inclusive atmosphere. It’s popular with families who want to have some time out together without leaving their furry family members at home!

Appetizing Dishes

I don’t know about you, but I love this place. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a light bite or a hearty meal – they’ve got something for everyone!
The food isn’t the only thing that’s great here though; it is also family-friendly and has an awesome menu of classics to choose from like Fish Fingers and Hand Cut Chips with Peas. This pub just might be your new favourite spot…

When you need a new, exciting meal to try out. The menu at this restaurant changes with the seasons so there’s always something different and interesting on offer!

The starters are so delicious. I had to go back for seconds of the Beetroot and Horseradish cake with Beetroot Tempura and Spicy Beetroot Mousse! And don’t forget about that crisp Seared Pigeon dish, which was simply divine.

Excellent Gastropub

I enjoyed The Chimney House because of the balance they’ve found between a gastropub and pub. It has that cosy feel, with Brighton quirks sprinkled in for good measure!
Most of it is set up as a dining space but there’s plenty to enjoy while you’re sitting at the bar or grabbing dinner on your own terms. You can’t go wrong–it all tastes great!

And, if you’re looking for a great place to drink wine on the cheap, then this is your spot. The wine list here is great.
They’ve got all sorts of little wines available by the glass and they know their stuff when it comes to pairing food with what’s in your cup!

If you’re craving some more sophisticated pub food, look no farther than The Chimney House.
You can enjoy venison or partridge served on a bed of hand-cut chips with pickled vegetables at this Brighton destination with dishes that will appeal to any palate!

Riddle and Finns

Riddle and Finns

I’ve been going to Riddle and Finns Brighton’s Lanes for as long as I can remember. You’ll find it on Meeting House Lane, a discreet side street off of North Street in the middle of town.

Riddle and Finns Brighton’s Lanes is a restaurant that will take you back in time with its beautiful decor, elegant atmosphere, and delicious food.

This restaurant is unlike anything in the area. It’s super cool to watch chefs make your food right there without any walls or windows! Plus, you can hear all their conversations and instructions as they prepare orders for each table – it makes me want to become a chef too!

The Atmosphere

Riddle & Finns on the beach is a laid-back, family-friendly restaurant with plenty of entertainment for kids in the back room.
Parents can enjoy themselves in front of the window-front tables by looking out at beautiful views from this restaurant.

The staff were all so friendly, and customer service was out of this world.

The Seafood Menu

The seafood here is the stuff of legends. You’ve got classics like oysters, whole crabs and fish pie; or you could go for more exotic catches from their daily menu.

You can pick up the freshest fish and get recipes to cook it at this Brighton seafood restaurant. And by fresh, I mean they have a traditional wet fish counter that you can take home!

Delish Food

I couldn’t help but order the Rossmore Rock oysters, as I love everything with a champagne sauce. The raw ones tasted just like summer at the beach and reminded me of all those carefree summers when life was easy – you know? They were so fresh that they didn’t need anything else to make them taste good!

The gratinée which I always adore got me excited because my mouth watered immediately when those melted cheese bubbles popped up around its edges from being baked atop bread crumbs or something crunchy…I can’t quite remember now!

Our kids were thrilled with the variety of choices on their menu, but they had a hard time choosing. In the end, both our little ones chose fish goujons which are fried to perfection and served up alongside fries! Needless to say, it didn’t last long before all that delicious food was gone!

We ordered the smoked haddock with colcannon, a poached egg, prosciutto and champagne sauce. This is one of the favourites that we always order when we come to this restaurant!

We also ordered the pan-roasted cod with a swede mash. It’s been a while since I’ve had it here but every time I do have it-it never disappoints!
